STATEMENT

“I love the rainbow of sensuous colours and the everchanging curve of petals. As a form for painting, I find full-blown roses a complex structure. I like to work with light and dark – and the rose is an ideal form for this – pushing the contrasts of highlights and shadows on the curving layers. I enlarge the image so that I can explore the changing hues in each petal. Building up layers of colour until the whole canvas glows”.
