Born London 1939, whereupon he daily shook his fist at Hitler's Luftwaffe for disturbing his sleep.

His art is largely self-taught, beyond attending life classes at St Martin's School of Art in London in the evenings while a messenger in various art studios by day.

1960 saw him hitch-hiking to Australia via Scandinavia, Germany, Austria, Yugoslavia, Greece, Turkey, Iran, Pakistan, India and Sri Lanka.

He has free-lanced since first arriving in Melbourne 1960.

Returning overland to London in 1968-70 he added Indonesia, PNG, Malaysia, Thailand, Cambodia and Afghanistan to the list of countries travelled along with Spain, France, Belgium, Holland, Mexico, US and Japan at other times.

This list is given because it relates to an injunction he received from an Irish graphic designer while a junior in London to 'Look at everything; take in all you see, later it will be of value.'

This was probably the single most important advice he received for his art. He believes the demands and deadlines of the graphics industry have helped him hone his technique and added to his work a grist that can only have been to his advantage.

Education: B.A. University of Melbourne

Books Illustrated: 'My Place in Space' co-illustrated childrens book of the year 1988.
