Jane Flowers May 2003Jane’s images are concerned with the diversity of our vast land - and capturing
the essence of a time and place. Passionate about the distinctive colours,
patterns and textures of Australia, for Jane being in the landscape is essential
to her work - and this show is a distillation of experiences from various locations
between the Kimberley in the north to southern Tasmania. Jane fills
sketchbooks and takes countless reference photos to create works on canvas
back at her studio on the coast near Portarlington overlooking Port Phillip. An
avid sailor, diver and nature lover, Jane has been a professional artist for over
20 years after careers in advertising and graphic design.
